On July 4th, 2025, flash flooding swept through the Texas Hill Country. Entire communities—Comfort, Kerrville, Hunt—were hit hard. Lives were lost, including children at nearby summer camps. Homes were damaged, roads were washed out, and families are still facing unimaginable grief.
This is a region I love deeply. It’s part of the landscape and spirit that inspired Desert Signal in the first place. And yet, I found myself unsure how to help—staring at headlines, feeling helpless.
This tragedy reminded me of a time I lived through another kind of tragedy. Back in 2013, I was working in Boston at a creative agency when the Marathon bombing happened. The city was shaken. But the very next day, the phrase Boston Strong emerged, born from the urgency and clarity of a leader I respected. It became a rallying cry not just for healing, but for unity.
That experience taught me something: when you don’t know what to do, sometimes doing something simple is enough.
I designed a small, quiet symbol—something respectful, something real. It’s not about Desert Signal. It’s just a hat and a shirt with the words Texas Hill Country Strong.
If you want to contribute to the relief efforts along the Guadalupe River, go to this verified recovery fund:
Here is the cost to print and the donation. Basically, for a SnapBack Hat, you will get the item and donate $23 to the Hill Country Flood Relief Fund. I will personally send you a receipt that your donation was placed.
